We went to see the Butterfly Farm on Saturday while we were visiting Mum in hospital.
There is only one word to use to discribe this - delightful.
It was a little oasis of calm, charm and heat (sweltering actually!) in a pouring wet windy day.
Yesterday it was the annual village 'Cream Tea'. The weather couldn't decide whether to spoil things completely or just be a pest with heavy showers whenever anyone ventured out. It settled on the pesky showers, but at least the plant stall and book stall were able to set up outside and people dived out to buy things whenever there was a break in the rain.
A group of ladies from the village put in some serious baking time for this event (for local charities) and it is always very well supported. So well supported that you have to queue right round the house to get in for your tea and scones.
Ah, but it is worth the wait, just look at these mouth watering beauties.
And what scone would be complete without the cup of tea. Higglety pigglety mismatched china just adds to the charm.
Now speaking of tea, this was one item that kept coming up on the comments for a rainy day contest. It really does sound like we are a world (not just a nation, tea was mentioned by bloggers in Australia and USA too) of tea drinkers, who like nothing better than their tea, chocolate and a good movie. I'm in there! It cheered me up just to read them.
The winner of the Keyring giveaway was
