This man is calmlywalking down a busy street in France with his feline friend on his shoulder. I spotted this when i was over in france recently, and my friend Willow reported that 'the cat walker' was a regular sight in Mont de Marsan.
Way back when in the mists of time, this was always a little dream of mine. When I got my first pet cat at the tender age of eight, I had vivid images of me walking along with my trusty cat on my shoulder.
No matter how I tried I could never get Tanya (seal point siamese) to sit on my shoulder. The fact that I was only eight and didn't have wide shoulders this could have had some bearing on the problem. I had Tanya for eighteen years and several times tried to teach her to ride on my shoulder. Wasn't there a song once where a character was so cool they had a cat travel on their shoulder? I remember a girl at college did just that. Rush home and throw long suffering cat on to shoulder. Watch as cat either leaps off indignantly or just gives up and sort of slithers off as she falls to the carpet.
So I never did manage to achieve the dizzy heights of cat cool. Here I am now surrounded by cats (my 2 and next door's gang) and not one will do the right thing and sit perfectly on my shoulder for more than a minute.
When I saw this guy in France my mind shot back to that little girl struggling with her pet, that teenager, that woman. It is just something I always wanted to do.
Idgy has Harry (ferret) ride on her shoulder whenever she wants, Hmmmmm where did I go wrong………
