Well it is 12th night today, the holidays are over and the decorations coming down.
Actually I started last night, I looked at the lovely (straight, oh yes it was eventually straight) Christmas tree and I thought I'd better get a start on taking it all apart. Being sensible as I threaten every year and putting everything in boxes and padded bags to avoid breakages. Well I finally did it, made the effort instead of my usual 'just haul the whole lot off and chuck it into bags because I can't stand the sight of it anymore', I was amazed at myself.
There was calm, I just spent ages doing this de-decoration and not getting in a fankle with the yards and yards of green wire on the lights. I even came up with a cunning solution for wire and tinsle wrapped round tree and not coming off easily – cut the branch off! What fun, see me with those siccateurs and mini hacksaw. Oh yes a wee bit of tree surgery goes a long way towards a calm de-treeing of the house!
So now I have to drag the damn thing out of the house and leave that 6 inch deep trail of needles throughout the house. I shall of course be keeping those pine needles, great for tub teas in the bath.

This is relaxing and fragrant (remember if you're using this idea put the pine needles in a bag, floating in pine needles is not a good look!). All you do is put your bag of pine needles in a pot and pour on boiling water. Leave it for 20 minutes and then tip it all into the hot bath. relax and enjoy.
So this morning is clearing out the old, this afternoon is bringing in the new. I'm doing Detoxing with herbs on The Hour this afternoon. Basket is packed with epsom salts, cranberry juice, rosemary, parsley, detox broth, herb teas and loads of goodness.
Now, on to that tree, it was the most beautiful Christmas tree I have ever had in my life. Okay it caused some stressy moments and a few tears when it crashed earthwords with all my old baubles flying everywhere, but it was beautiful, a joy to behold, one to remember. Must stop here and drag it out…….
